The default method used to determine the material composition of a
given voxel in a 3D image is based on the HU value.

In the only commercial implementation of the GBBS, this is converted
to
mass density
using the CT scanner calibration curve. For voxels with
density <3 g/cm

, only a biological material can be assigned: lung,
adipose tissue, muscle, cartilage, or bone.

The material corresponding to a given HU is hard-coded into a lookup
table..
