Pete Granger is a retired engineering manager, and he and his wife, Marg, are

full-time RVers in their 38-foot Monaco. They are leaseholders at the Evergreen

COHO SKP Co-Op Park. For many years Pete has edited and e-published the

TALE

SPINNER

, a newsletter for his RC model club, that is distributed monthly to about

100 people across the U.S. and Canada.

provides full-service hookup sites and

new rest rooms with showers. I highly

recommend making reservations.

Victoria, Canada

Pack an overnight bag and take the

Black Ball Ferry from Port Angeles

to Victoria, Canada, on Vancouver

Island. Overnight parking is available

for a reasonable price about a block

from the Port Angeles ferry terminal.

Enjoy high tea at the Empress Hotel

right on the waterfront, catch a bus to

Butchart Gardens and absorb the won-

derful floral and plant presentations.

Plan to spend the night at accommo-

dations close to the ferry landing.

When you’re ready for a

good meal, the area can meet

your every desire from an

elegant dinner in Manressa

Castle (Port Townsend) to a

mondo burger at the Valley

Tavern in Port Hadlock. High

quality seafood is commonly

available, and the local Elks Club

provides excellent seafood on Thurs-

day nights with enthusiastic Escapees

participation.

If you like Mexican food, Pedro’s

produces delicious Mexican-style

seafood dishes.

You can monitor local air traffic

from the deck of the Spruce Goose

Café (Jefferson County Airport),

or watch the ferries and waterfront

action while dining at the Bayview in

Port Townsend.

Seasonal Events

May through October provides almost

continuous special events

ranging from symphonic presentations

to the Sequim Lavender Festival to the

end-of-season craziness of the Kinetic

Skulpture Race. The Wooden Boat

Festival will dazzle you with crafts-

manship that is a rare find these days.

There are fishing derbies and logger

contests, weekly farmers’ markets, a

jazz festival and much more.

Evergreen COHO SKP Co-Op

If you are looking for a place to call

home while enjoying your summer,

the Evergreen COHO SKP Co-Op

park in Chimacum is the perfect fit.

It is a beautiful park and the “rain

shadow” is in effect for the park, so

rain is rare, especially in the summer.

The park location lends itself to ex-

ploration of the east and north parts of

the peninsula, and you can now make

reservations. See

evergreencohosk-

prvpark.com

for more information.

Major shopping is available about

40 minutes away across the Hood

Canal floating bridge in Silverdale. Be

sure to take advantage of the King’s

Wok Buffet while you are in Silver-

dale; you won’t be sorry.

Explorations on the peninsula’s

west side can entail a long drive

from Evergreen COHO, but there

are ample camping venues available:

Salt Creek County Park, La Push and

Kalaloch are attractive choices as are

the various Olympic National Park

campgrounds. The Lodge at Kalaloch

has an excellent restaurant as an added

bonus. The summer season is a busy

time for our area, so it is wise to call

ahead for site availability.

Evergreen COHO SKP Co-Op Park

is a friendly place, and we’re eager to

enhance your explorations. If our wel-

come team can’t help you, we know

someone who can.

“If you are looking for a place to call home

while enjoying your summer, the Evergreen

COHO SKP Co-Op park in Chimacum is the

perfect fit.”
