An opening for a LAWYER in the European
Court of Human Rights
The European Court of Human Rights in
Strasbourg has a vacancy for a lawyer in
its registry. The successfulapplicant will
join trie small team of highly qualified
lawyers who assist the Court in a variety
of legal and administrative tasks,
including the preparation of draft
judgments and case summaries ;
research in international, domestic and
comparative law; and preparation of the
Court's hearings and deliberations.
This is a permanent post open to Irish
and United Kingdom nationals.
Applicants must normally be aged under
35. They must have a good law degree
or a good degree in another discipline
with a subsequent professional
qualification as a solicitor or a barrister in
Ireland or the United Kingdom. The
ability to draft legal texts clearly,
conciselyand elegantly is essential and
experience as a legal practitioner will be
an advantage. Applicants will also be
expected to have a good knowledge of
French. The post is one which requires
initiative, discretion, a sense ofresponsibility
and the ability to work in a team.
Remuneration and conditions of
employment are comparable to those
offered by other international institutions.
