Outdoor Motoring activities were re-started on Sunday the 1
st
A Rally was organised at
Gribdale Gate (Great Ayton) consisted of a Hill Climb and Gymkhana for Motorcycles,
there was an excellent attendance.
On the 6th, the 360 Club paid a visit to Constantine College when a demonstration of the
"Spectra" was given by T. J. Pickering, B.Sc,
A Flag Day for the North Riding Infirmary was organised. A Social Run to Redcar on the
12th when Bathing, Beach Games, and a Picnic Tea were indulged in.
The Golf Section arranged a demonstration in the Club which was supported by Teesside
Golf Club.
Cycle Runs were also arranged .
AUGUST.
The Ministry of Fuel & Power were criticised over their evasive attitude to Petrol
Rationing.
Letters of thanks were received from; The British Sailor's Society, St. Dunstans, The
Royal Air Forces Benevolent Fund, The Soldiers and Sailors' Families Association, The
British Legion and Earl Haig's Fund who had all received £10-0-0 each.
The Journal published a photograph of the Grave of Sgt. Pilot Gilly Bensley in the English
Cemetary at St. Frond, Belgium, showing a Wreath placed thereon by Reg. Harkness on
behalf of the Club. It also contained many letters received from members in the forces.
Whist Drives & Dances were discontinued during the month.
SEPTEMBER.
The First Post War Trial was held on the 16th. It was given the name of "The Ryan
Memorial Trial" in memory of the late President W. (Bill) Ryan. 35 entries were received, it
was supported by the D.Rs. of the Royal Corps of Signals from Catterick Camp. The
winner was E. W. Kendrew, 350 Triumph who lost 13 pts. The best performance by a
service Driver was made by L/Cpl. G. E. Duke who lost 29 pts.
There was a Dance in aid of the Building Fund and Whist Drives & Dances on Wednesday
& Saturdays were re-commenced.
OCTOBER.
The Editorial in the Journal was headed "Thanksgiving Week" October 13th to 20th, has
been fixed for what may be called Middlesbrough effort in the culminating drive in the
Savings Scheme. Bill Oliver & Army Hanson will be in attendance to receive and advise
about investments.
There was a meeting of the 360 Club addressed by John 0. Evans, K .N.
