Wacom Cintiq 27QHD Touch
Mention the word Cintiq to any digital artist and watch
them radiate admiration. The impressive range of
pen-on-screen displays has been – quite literally –
shaping the creative industry on PC and Mac since their
introduction, and remain the benchmark coveted by
burgeoning designers and artists.
Wacom have improved upon
the stalwart 24-inch Cintiq by
introducing several new key
features designed to improve
productivity, including a slimmer
design, multi-touch integration,
and screen size increased to an
impressive 27 inches with an
aspect ratio of 16:9. Its quality
build features an edge-to-
edge glass screen that’s both
aesthetically pleasing and highly functional. Pushing
four times the resolution of HDTV at 2560 x 1440 and
supporting 97 per cent Adobe RGB colour gamut to
display up to 1.07 billion colours, the Cintiq 27QHD
Touch offers users enhanced detail.
The aforementioned touch technology allows two-
finger pan, two-finger zoom and canvas rotation. Three
fingers will bring up the Wacom radial menu, enabling
you to map your key strokes and actions, facilitating
swift and easy access to frequently used functions; all
these gestures are customisable and can be mapped
to your own shortcuts. For users unfamiliar with
touch technology on a Cintiq (touch already features on
the Cintiq 22HD and 24HD) it does take a little getting
used to, but after employing it for a day, we found
the functionality particularly beneficial. The Pro Pen is
included with its famed 2048 levels of sensitivity.
Remember the ExpressKeys on the Cintiq 24 that
you’d occasionally bump into while working? Well,
Wacom obviously listened to the feedback and they’re
now history, replaced by a new
utilitarian ExpressRemote that
attaches magnetically to either
the left or right side of the
screen and utilises 12 buttons
and a touch ring for scroll and
zoom. Users can map up to 23
shortcuts to the remote, which
features a rechargeable battery
with a touted life of 160 hours. This
personal customisation can then be
backed-up to the Wacom Cloud service, so in the event
of a technical catastrophe, your settings are safely stored.
The Cintiq 27QHD comes with two foldout legs,
offering a 5° tilt when stowed away, or 20° when
deployed. For further flexibility, a stand is available for
purchase as an optional accessory.
Offering four USB ports, increased resolution,
touch integration, an anti-glare screen and an elegant
streamlined design, the Cintiq 27QHD Touch is a game-
changer in terms of quality. From May, the Cintiq 27QHD
will be displayed in JB Hi-Fi stores at Sydney Westfield
and Melbourne Bourke St.
The Cintiq remains the jewel in the crown of every digital
artist/designer. NowWacom have introduced a new 27-inch
model with touch technology.

Wacom Cintiq
13HD Touch
Equally as sleek is the smaller,
more portable Cintiq 13HD
Touch, compatible with
both PC and Mac and out
this month at JB. While the
design-friendly Cintiq 13HD has
been available for almost two
years, this versatile tablet now
incorporates touch technology.
The Cintiq 13HD Touch is
virtually identical in design
and functionality to the Cintiq
13HD, featuring crisp and
clear 1920 x 1080 native
resolution, a 13.3-inch display,
and weighing in at 1.2 kilos.
The touch integration allows
the artist to zoom, enlarge or
rotate their work swiftly and
efficiently using simple finger
movements. With four desk
positions available in the built-in
stand, the Cintiq 13HD Touch
also nestles comfortably in
your lap.
Users who already own the
Cintiq 13HD may be reluctant
to upgrade to the Touch model,
but if you’re in the market for a
smaller Cintiq, the 13HD Touch
has everything you need.
