Pareto optimum in multi-criteria planning

Multi-criteria planning:

- conflicting constraints!

- the quality on every solution depends on more than one attribute

- for each choice of parameters the different criteria are measured by a

set of

N

objective functions

- attained values constitute a criterion vector, which has to be minimized

- no combination in which the criterion vector is optimal, so:

best solution is ‘set of optimal compromises’

this solution is Pareto optimal under the given constraints
