Long steel
expansion
Praxair Inc has commissioned a new air
separation plant in Pisco, in central Peru.
Under a long-term contract, Praxair is to
increase its supply of oxygen to Aceros
Arequipa, Peru’s largest long steel maker,
to meet the company’s expanding steel
production capacity. This is Praxair’s third
plant serving Aceros Arequipa’s Pisco
facility.
The new supply will enable Aceros
Arequipa to expand its production of
steel wire rods and other steel products
used in Peru’s construction sector. Aceros
Arequipa produces more than one million
tons of steel products per year.
Rapid
approval
Rapid Wire Cable has become
Underwriters Laboratories certified. The
company specializes in time sensitive
wire harnesses, cable assemblies and
box build prototypes and will now be in a
position to provide UL labels upon product
shipment. This label assures customers
that Rapid is following the appropriate
safety measures and that production is
carried out correctly, to specification,
and approved by the Underwriters
Laboratories.
“This is a great addition to Rapid Wire
Cable. UL certification is an important
criterion that our customers depend upon
to ensure that their wire harnesses, cable
assemblies, and contract assemblies
are being manufactured correctly and
safely,” said Ben Gallo, general manager
of Rapid Wire Cable. “UL certification
will broaden our customer base as well
as allow us to do those projects that we
were not able to do in the past.”
