Partnership pays off
CMS and Control and Power Engineering have announced a partnership for the design
and supply of fully integrated PC wire and PC strand lines.
The co-operation between Keith Russell,
of C&PE, and Chris Livesey, of CMS,
combines the expertise of over 30 com-
plete process lines installed worldwide,
together with modern machinery design
and manufacturing techniques.
There are a number of technical standards
in pre-stressed concrete wire and strand
for low relaxation: ASTM A421 (single wire),
ASTM A416 (seven strand), ASTM A886
(indented wire strand) and PR EN10138
(European wire standard).
There are few suppliers who can reliably
combine complete knowledge of the
process with fully integrated plant supply.
However, the partnership between CMS
and C&PE does just that, offering a one-
stop shop for complete production line
installation.

Hunan Valin Xiangtan Iron & Steel Ltd,
China, has placed an order with SMS Meer,
Germany, for the supply of a new high
speed wire rod outlet for quality steels.
Within the framework of this order,
SMS Meer is to supply the complete
rolling technology, the cooling tech-
nology and the key components of the
mechanical equipment.
These include CantiLever stands (CL),
rotary shears, a six stand wire rod block,
a four-stand FRS block (Flexible Reduction
and Sizing) as well as the pinch roll unit
and loop laying head.
In addition, the mill will employ the
CCT (Controlled Cooling Technology)
developed by SMS Meer. For the
remaining equipment, SMS Meer will
supply the detail engineering.
The mill is scheduled to go into
production in January 2008.
