Technical Notes
Born from the chance encounter of two passions, developed and refined over time, and a common interest in derelict industrial sites, the Offscapes
project includes images taken in Italy between April 2010 and April 2012. The sites, some of which were being progressively dismantled, lie mainly
within the hinterland of the city of Bologna, with others from the areas of Modena, Comacchio (near Ferrara) and Forlì. Some of the shots are limit-
ed by the precarious nature of the local environment and poor light; notwithstanding these limitations, they have been included in the volume due to
their documentary value.
Nato dall’incontro casuale di due passioni coltivate nel tempo e dal comune interesse per i luoghi industriali abbandonati, il progetto Offscapes include immagini scattate
in Italia dall’aprile del 2010 allo stesso mese del 2012. I siti, alcuni dei quali sono in fase di smantellamento progressivo, si trovano prevalentemente nel comprensorio
bolognese, con qualche appendice nell’area di Modena, di Comacchio (FE) e di Forlì. Alcuni scatti hanno risentito della precarietà delle condizioni ambientali e di
illuminazione; sono stati comunque inclusi nel volume in virtù del loro valore documentale.
The texts were composed during the past 14 years. Their composition thus partially constituted a preparatory work (comprising a search for sourc-
es through a Debordian psychogeographical drifting), partially accompanied and followed the photography. In the meantime, some of the texts have
been published, in a slightly or completely different form, in the volumes

I testi sono stati composti nell’arco degli ultimi quattordici anni. La loro elaborazione ha quindi in parte costituito un lavoro preparatorio (articolato fra ricerca delle fonti
e deriva psicogeografica debordiana), in parte ha accompagnato e seguito la documentazione fotografica. Alcuni testi sono stati nel frattempo pubblicati, in forma
leggermente o sostanzialmente diversa, nei volumi

The photographs were almost entirely the work of Valeria Reggi, with the exception of those on pages 44, 81, 144, by Vincenzo Bagnoli; the photo-
graphs were taken using a Nikon D40X with an 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 objective.
