INTRODUCTION

This document has been prepared for the Safety Instrument System (SIS) associated with the

overfill protection of storage tanks at Local Fuel, Shoreham Oil Terminal. It is part of the life

cycle documentation of the SIS in accordance with BS EN 61508 & BS EN 61511 and to be a

working document throughout the life cycle of the Safety System.

This document is prepared as a retrospective Safety Requirement Specification for Local Fuel

plc to reflect that the existing installed Safety Instrumented System meets the requirements of

the LOPA.

2.1

Risk Analysis and Allocation of Safety Functions

A LOPA Risk Assessment was conducted on the Shoreham Gasoline Import and Storage

Facility on 8

The outcome of the assessment showed that the existing SIL2 system installed on the gasoline

tanks at the terminal was adequate to bring the frequency of mitigated consequence into the

broadly acceptable region.
