The Wachau
Formed by the Danube River, shaped by winegrowers into stone
terraces built by arduous labour, protected and preserved in its
native beauty by forward-thinking individuals, the Wachau was
designated a World Heritage Cultural Landscape by UNESCO in
the year 2000.
