Edinburgh
Festival Fringe
The School takes at least one
show each year. Last year’s
production was described by
critics as ‘polished … mature
… superb.’
St Edward’s sits on
100 ACRES
at the heart of a city
– unusual for a boarding school.
Oxford is renowned worldwide for
its rich intellectual and cultural life.
Summertown, a lively
‘urban village’ is 2 minutes
from School and offers
cafés, restaurants,
banks, supermarkets
and a wide range
of shops.
Oxford city centre is 5 minutes
away by bus or bicycle.
Leave weekends
(some of which
run from
Thursday –
Sunday) occur in
each half term,
and boarding
pupils may spend
one other
Saturday night at
home during
each half term at
their HM’s
discretion.
DAY
PUPILS
New arrangements
mean that day pupils
can leave at 6.30pm
if they have no
further school
commitments.
Overseas pupils from more than
35 different countries
make up 16% of the school community.
An Overseas Committee organises activities and
initiatives to ensure that international pupils find
their niche and feel at home.
St Edward’s
is unusual
in having a
dedicated Head of
Dance and a highly
active Dance
Department.
Boarding and day pupils
live in one of 12 Houses,
five for girls and seven for
boys. Six of our Houses are
on the Quad side of the
School, near the teaching
and dining facilities, six are
on Field side, close to the
sports pitches and facilities.
Watch our pupils in
action across all areas
of school life on
Teddies TV
via the homepage of
the website.
Transport
links are
good
Heathrow and
Birmingham airports
are an hour away,
and central London
an hour and a half.
All pupils are automatically
members of the Virgin Active
Health Club (on school grounds):
it features a 25-metre pool,
indoor and outdoor tennis courts
and the very latest in commercial
gym, fitness and spinning facilities.
