Hazardous Materials Program
The compliance for handling hazardous materials is constantly changing. Today’s
workplace and environmental safety issues are of paramount importance to
any business.
Managing a successful compliance program “in-house” can, at times, be a daunting
task. Whereas, outsourcing your expertise would save time, be cost effective, and
provide a comprehensive regulations compliance program.
As you are most certainly aware, in accordance with OSHA’s Hazard Communication
Standard (29CFR, 1910.1200), distributors, retailers, and employers are responsible
for ensuring that their customers and employees are, upon request, provided a copy
of a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for each product they purchase or are
exposed to in the workplace.
The role of an MSDS is to provide detailed information on each hazardous
chemical, including its potential hazardous effects, its physical and chemical
characteristics, and recommendations for appropriated protective measures.
Professional Emergency Resource Services (PERS) is currently the MSDS
provider for Blish-Mize Co. They have simplified the MSDS compliance programs for
Blish-Mize and our customers.
PERS is staffed with a team of professionals that can provide 24-hour support for all
your MSDS needs. Requests may be submitted by utilizing PERS toll-free phone
number or by FAX. The documents will be transferred electronically for the most ex-
peditious service. If you do not own a FAX machine, MSDS can be faxed to any pub-
lic or private FAX number you provide. The PERS program is also available on the
Blish-Mize website. Using your user ID and password, MSDS sheets can be accessed
through the Industry Links button by pressing PERS Haz Fax.
All new Blish-Mize customers will have an opportunity to enroll in the PERS pro-
gram. Participation in this program will ensure compliance with Federal OSHA regula-
tions that require you to maintain a system for making MSDS available to employees
and customers. The charge for the PERS program is $24 per year per location, and
the billing year is October 1 through September 30.
The PERS program is inexpensive insurance to help avoid large OSHA fines that are
sometimes associated with citations issued by OSHA or local & state authorities. If you
choose not to enroll in the PERS program, please understand that Blish-Mize Co. will
be waived of all legal liabilities.
