he 1989 USD volleyball team came
to
a disappointing end with a record of 2-
26. The teams record shows many
losses, but does not reflect team improve–
ment. The Toreras may have lost many, but
none of the games were blowouts. Some of
this years competition includes SDSU, UC!,
Mississippi, and Missouri.
This years team returned six players from
1988. Cindy Sildorf, the only senior on this
years team led the Toreras with twenty seven
aces, and was the second highest in kills with
171. Cindy feels "We are so young and Inexpe–
rienced. We lost five seniors from last year
. . . There is, however, some good young
ta!-
+."
Head Coach John Martin was "disappointed
be
cause we didn't win more, but I'm pleased with
the improvement of the individuals and team

bring with them a lot of talent. Kristi Harris,

se–
lection in high school, Maria Rickard, a sec–
ond team All-Selection CIF(6A), and Andrea
Burns will take position as hitters on this
years team. Their outlook and summary of
the season is "We all got along really well,
and learned from each others background. We
definitely have potential."
