The sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha enjoy exciting times
together not only during the school year, but in the
summer as well.
The first chapter was established in 1898 in Farm–
ville, Virginia at Longwood College. There are 214 chap–
ters and the Theta Epsilon Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha
was installed at U.S.D. on November 10, 1979. We are
the third largest national sorority, and our members
enrich the college experience by providing lifelong
friendships.
ZTA celebrated its tenth reunion this year during
homecoming weekend with a cocktail party and a Tail
Gate party. Both were attended by all alumni, which
made it a great success.
The 1989 school year started with one of the best
rushes ever with a total pledge class of 33 girls, which
made the Fall pledge retreat to Disneyland even more
fun. We want to thank the other sororities and fraterni–
ties for making "Pledge Presents" a great time.
Other activities during the year included the Christ–
mas Dance, as well as White Violet and exchanges with
fraternities.
Service projects are the backbone of ZTA. Zeta's
national philanthropy is the Association for Retarded
Citizens. We had a picnic with the A.R.C. at Tecolote
Park which went over really well. This was a very
rewarding event for those sisters involved. We also
participated in the. Senior Citizen Outreach Weekend.
ZTA is built on high ideals and offers opportunities
for social development, as well as high scholastic
achievement and personal growth, "Zeta is today and
forever!"
