amma Phi Beta could not have started the 1989-1990

~

school year better than with the addition of 40 terrific

pledges. Being 112 women strong, Gamma Phis have fun Winter,

Spring, Summer and Fall!

Observing 115 years of tradition of sisterhood, pride, and fun,

Gamma Phi Beta takes an active part in the USD and San Diego

community.

To start off the year and celebrate a terrific Rush, the Gamma

Phi "Fall Party" at Norway Hall was a great success. Fun

continued when Phi Kappa Theta "borrowed" the Gamma Phi

composite and planned an impromptu party.

Crescent Ball, the Gamma Phi Fall Formal, was one of the

most memorable nights of the semester. "Dining and Dancing"

at the San Diego Princess Resort, Gammies pre-partied by doing

everything from limo rides to boating along the Bay.

Gamma Phis won't forget the fun they had at a SDSU/USD

Sigma Chi/Theta/Gammie exchange either. At the San Diego

State Sigma Chi house, the organizations enjoyed a Friday TG.

Gammies treat their parents to some fun also. During Home–

coming Weekend, the Gammies hosted a Family Day Barbecue.

Games, food, and a cheering section for the football game al–

lowed everyone to have a blast. Of course, the girls and their

families were cheering, too, for Gamma Phi Homecoming Atten–

dants, Freshman Erika Dohrmann, Junior Kelly Bower and

Queen Greta Swanson.

Gammas take in some culture by hosting a variety of speak–

ers, and by trips. Such as the trip to

Los

Angeles to view

"Phantom of the Opera."

Sorority members actively participate in philanthropy, too at

Bayside Settlement Home, an organization for latch-key kids.

The sisters benefit and learn a great deal from volunteer work

at the center which includes games, tutoring and holiday activi–

ties.

Excitement kept high throughout the year with Pearl Ball in

ho,ior of the newly initiated sisters, a Disneyland Trip, exchange

and parties and continuous involvement in the community.

Gamma Phi Beta is proud of its strong and enthusiastic

sisterhood.
