legal advice and assistance,
to enable
the person
to whom
it was
addressed to recover compensation for the
death of his daughter, which occurred during
this month through a motor accident. It was
decided to send this objectionable circular to
the English Law Society, and to express the
hope that proceedings may be taken against
the senders of it.
Law Clerks.
A petition from a law clerk for liberty to be
bound under Section 16, and the report of the
Court of Examiners thereon, were considered,
and the petition was granted.
Memorials from two law clerks seeking
modified Preliminary Examinations under
Section 18 were considered, and
it was
resolved that the applications be not opposed.
Costs Committee.
A report from the Costs Committee upon
the following query submitted to the Council
was adopted :—
QUERY.—Under what scale should the
costs be drawn of a lease of premises in
Dublin for 283 years and 9 months at the
yearly rent of £50, the poor law valuation of
the premises being £100, and the lease con
taining no covenant to build and no covenant
to expend money ?
ANSWER.—The Committee are of opinion
that upon the facts and figures stated the
costs should be drawn under
the scale
applicable to a lease for a long term£at a
rack rent.

An estimate for the making of a door
leading from the landing outside the lecture

into the gallery of the Hall,
in
accordance with specifications prepared by
Mr. A. E. Murray, C.E., was accepted.

MR. WILLIAM G. TOWERS, Solicitor, died on
the 21st July, 1913, at Dublin.
