his promised Bill to give Ireland the same
advantages as are enjoyed in England in this
respect '
Mr. Birrell.—
I am sorry to say that the
matter is not so simple as the Hon. Member
appears to think. There are difficulties in
the way of extending the guarantee on the
Consolidated Fund which make it impossible
for me to hope to get the Bill through as an
agreed measure during the present. Session.
County Court (Ireland) Bill.
IN the House of Commons on the 26th June,
Mr. Charles Craig
asked the Chief Secretary
whether, in view of the recommendation of
the County Court Judges of Ireland, he will
appoint a commission of inquiry into the
working of the Irish County Courts, including
the sheriffs office, with the object of forming
a basis for future legislation on the subject ;'
Mr. Birrell
said he did not think recom
mendations of the County Court Judges were
such as to necessitate the appointment of
such a Commission.
