WITH the LUMP 2000-series Sikora
introduces technology for the non-contact
detection of lumps and neckdowns during
hose and tube production. The heart of the
LUMP 2000-devices is advanced double
sensor technology. The systems detect
punctual non-conformities on the product
surface even at high line speeds.
The 2-axis gauge heads are suitable for
product diameters from 0.5 to 10mm and
0.5 to 25mm. Moreover, SIKORA provides
3-axis models for product diameters from
0.25 to 10mm and 0.5 to 35mm. A special
model is available to detect lumps and
neckdowns to a size of 5μm, at product
dimensions of 0.1 to 0.5mm.
With the special edition of the LUMP
2010 T Sikora offers an additional future-
oriented technology for the detection of
lumps and neckdowns in transparent
materials. The gauge head is available for
product diameters from 0.25 to 10mm.

Ultrasonic
rotating
system
for defect
detection
CONTRÔLE Mesure Systèmes (CMS)
is a manufacturer of eddy current and
ultrasonic instruments, testing machines
and sensors, for industrial applications
requiring surface, sub-surface, crack
detection and metal sorting.
CMS has increased its product offering
with a full range of ultrasonic equipment and
a range of rotating UT heads designed for
tubes and bars of any material (carbon steel,
stainless steel, titanium, etc) for internal
flaw detection at high speed, to meet quality
standards such as API, SCHELL and DIN.
Up to 24 ultrasonic probes turn around
the product, contactless, to a distance of
nearly 20mm. The product moves linearly,
and shear waves probes allow the full
detection of defects such as longitudinal and
transversal defects. Compression waves
probes allow the detection of lamination,
and the measurement of thickness and
external and internal diameter ovalisation.
The UT Scan100 electronic ultrasonic
instrument, which can provide a full report
with localisation of defects, is designed to
operate with the rotating UT heads.
The rotating UT head range, for products
from 5 to 220mm, is available in five different
models, with larger diameters possible upon
request. The signal transmission is without
contact and allows a high rotation speed
of up to 8,000rpm, depending on the UTR
size.
The UT rotating head can be installed in
addition to an eddy current system manu-
factured by CMS. With this new range of
products, CMS is able to provide a full NDT
solution in the same bench, and including
centring devices, motorisation, PLC control,
filtering and circulating water system.
