Terrain for Draglines

Terrain for Dragline provides real-time monitoring

and reporting of dragline operations. By combining

GNSS and production monitoring data, the system

empowers the mining office to plan and control opera-

tions. It records the complete, detailed data associated

with each load cycle.

The system gives the operator the design plan and

real-time position of the dragline relative to the plan in

3D. It also monitors, displays, and logs various param-

eters from the machine and site.

Production Monitoring

— Production Monitoring

provides real-time tracking and reporting of drag-

line operation results. When coupled with GNSS,

Production Monitoring empowers miners to plan

and control operations. The unparalleled geo-refer-

enced production monitoring capability also records

detailed data for subsequent analysis and reporting.

Unlike traditional monitoring systems, Terrain for

draglines records the complete, detailed data associ-

ated with each load cycle. The cycle data is not aver-

aged or filtered, which means that the full data set

remains available for additional querying.

3D Bucket Positioning

— This feature expands the

basic GNSS navigation and Production Monitoring

to provide the operator with a plan and profile view

of the dragline and cut being excavated. The profile

view can also include the bench, cut, beginning loca-

tions and final locations.

Load Weighment

—Terrain for draglines determines

the payload weight during the swing to dump cycle.

The load weighment feature calculates running and

total shift productivity in actual tons in addition to

a theoretical volume. Accurate payload information

allows for a more precise measure of true machine

productivity.

Boom Stress Monitoring

— Boom failure is a cata-

strophic event for a dragline. Terrain for draglines

interfaces with third party boom stress monitoring

systems to display information that the operator can

use to minimize boom stress. Time-stamped data is

recorded and logged enabling the mine office to

manage boom life and operational practices.

Terrain for Grading & Loading

Terrain for grading & loading moves the material

identification file and survey system into the machine,

eliminating the need for survey stakes or pin flags. A

touch screen monitor displays the location of pit bound-

aries, material type, bench height, and design grade,

eliminating operator guesswork. With material types

and locations displayed, ore identification and recov-

ery are optimized.

The system is an ideal tool for mine planning, engi-

neering, surveying, grade control and production mon-

itoring applications. For example it can be used for:

Haul road and bench construction and maintenance

Production dozing

Leach pad construction and maintenance

Reclamation

Task List Management

Ore grade control and material identification

Coal load out terminals

The system can be used on scrapers, loaders, dozers,

shovels, motor graders, hydraulic excavators and track-

type tractors.

Terrain features a mobile application for use in light

vehicles. Mine supervisors can log in from a laptop or

tablet to view progress updates from nearby machines,

know the precise location of all Terrain-equipped

machines, assign tasks and validate design plans with-

out having to drive back to the mine office, improving

the efficiency of your operations. Updates made on the

mobile application are sent back to the office software

and then communicated to the applicable machine on-

board system in near real-time.
