Professor López-Calvo’s primary area of study covers 20th- and 21st-century Latin American
narratives and cultures, with an emphasis on the Caribbean and the Latin American
Southern Cone. His most recent book, “Latino Los Angeles in Film and Fiction: The Cultural
Production of Social Anxiety,” examines the imaging of Los Angeles as depicted in Latina/o
narratives and film.
