SURYANAMASKAR

(salutations to Sun) - Combines yogasanas and pranayama. It brings about the general flexibility of the body.

This is done both at sunrise and subset, facing the sun; each stage is accompanied by regulation of breath .

ARDHA KATI CAKRASANA

(Lateral Arch posture)

Benefits : This gives a good

backward bending to the spine and

helps in keeping it flexible and

healthy. It also improves the liver

function.

TRIKONASANA

(Triangle posture)

Benefits : Strengthens the calf

and thigh muscles; removes back-

pain and corrects hunch-back, useful

in correcting flat-foot

SUPTA-VAJRASANA

(The supine vajrasana)

Benefits : Activates and

tones up the large group of

nerves which arise in the lower lumbar region and pass through the

buttocks down the back of the thighs. Good for mobilising hips,

ankles and lower back.

PASCHIMATANASANA

(Posterior stretching)

Benefits : Pascimatanasana

stimulates the nerves of the spi-

nal column through extreme flex-

ing of spine. Fat in the abdomen is reduced. Other abdominal or-

gans like liver, pancreas and intestines are also rendered active.

PADMASANA

( Lotus posture)

Benefits ; The erect spine and the

symmetrical posture help in bringing

stability to mind. Reduces the fat

around the thigh.

ARDHA MATSYENDRASANA

(The half-twist posture)

Benefits : All the spinal nerves

are toned up. Makes the spine elastic.

Helps to cure constipation

7.

MAKARASANA

(Crocodile posture)

Benefits : This relaxation

posture is useful for many ail-

ments caused by tensions like

high B.P. insomnia etc.

8.

DHANURASANA

(Bow posture)

Benefits : Removes gastrointesti-

nal disorders; digestion improves.

Helps in slimming the body and abdo-

men. A good stimulating posture for the

back and limbs.

9.

SARVANGASANA -

(Stand-on-shoulder posture)

Benefits : Maintains the thyroid healthy

which in turn keeps the body healthy.

Beneficiallv influences the pelvic organs.
