LOTUS

The sacred Indian lotus 'Nelumbo Nucifera', has rose-like pink petals and seeds.

The eight-petalled flower is found on the water surface of pools and lakes

Symbolism:

A person can rise above all wordly evils. Most beloved of all flowers, numerous references occur

to the lotus in Sanskrit literature. According to the

Puraanas,

Brahma, the creator of the world, emerged from the

lotus which grew out of the navel of Vishnu. Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity, has always been

shown standing on a lotus flower.
