ICOTA Europe presents innovation award
Intervention &Coiled TubingAssociation
(ICoTA) has presented its European
Chapter Innovation Award to Interwell
in recognition of the company’s
application of technical innovation.
Picking up the trophy at the SPE ICoTA
European Well Intervention Conference,
the company was acknowledged as the
leading innovator in well intervention
technology over the course of the past
year.
Interwell’s EJCA (expandable junk
catcher add-on), winner of the 2013
ICoTA European Chapter Innovation
award, enables clients to deploy and
retrieve bridge plugs in a single trip.
The EJCA has saved two wireline runs
per intervention and has ensured the
plugs can be equalised even in high
debris well environments.
Wellbore debris is a common
occurrence in mature wells and can
present a challenge to the equalisation
and retrieval of wellbore plugs.
Interwell’s Kenneth Rygh was asked by
one of his clients to provide a solution
that would allow them to run and pull a
plug, with an integral junk catcher, in a
single run. Mr Rygh said, “It’s a great
privilege for the Interwell team to win
this award in recognition
of all the hard work
invested in engineering this
solution.” Andrew Louden,
Interwell’s UK managing
director, said, “We are
continuously developing
novel solutions to address
our clients’ well intervention
challenges. This award is a
great achievement for the
company and showcases
the benefits and savings
that our technologies can
bring to our clients.”
ICoTA Europe chairman
Michael Taggart added, “On
behalf of ICoTA Europe, I
would like to congratulate
Interwell for this award win.
The EJCA has approached
a common problem within
well intervention and provided a solution
that is both simplistic and easy to apply
and will undoubtedly be of great benefit
to operators. The award is one of the
major activities of the organisation and
rewards the very best in our industry.
We are always very proud to present
this award to those who represent the
innovation, creativity and enthusiasm
that makes our industry so exciting to
work in.”
