Focus on oil and gas business
Aimed at increasing business growth
in the energy sector, Sandvik Materials
Technology has established a new oil
and gas business unit, increasing its
investment and enhancing customer
focus.
“As part of our commitment we have just
opened a new North Sea sales office in
Aberdeen and will strengthen our teams
in Stavanger, Houston, Brazil, Dubai and
Singapore, providing increased levels of
customer support in these key areas,”
explained Nigel Haworth, manager of
the new business unit.
The formation of the business unit,
within the company’s tube product area,
brings together production facilities
and sales and marketing functions into
one organisation. It will provide closer
controls over the unit’s capabilities,
enabling it to develop increased market
opportunities in a more focused manner.
Michael Andersson, head of the tube
product area, commented, “Oil and gas
is one of our main strategic growth
areas and the importance we place on
the development and expansion in this
sector is reflected in the formation of
this new business unit.”
Sandvik will build on its standing as a
producer of OCTG materials in corrosion
resistant alloys, while enhancing its
position in the supply of control tubing
for umbilicals and control lines. The
company expects growing demand for
corrosion resistant alloys, and states
that its range of Duplex and higher
nickel austenitic alloys are suited to
meeting these demands. Mr Haworth
added, “There are many subsea and
well intervention applications where we
can bring new capabilities and supply
options to the market for the benefit
of our customers. We have a number
of new products under development,
some of which are ready for field trials
while others are, at present, conceptual.
Some will be introduced as early as
2014.”
