Erne Fittings challenges brand abuse
Erne Fittings is a supplier of butt-
weld fittings, including elbows, tees
and reducers from ½" to 40" external
diameter and wall-thicknesses up
to 50mm, made of alloyed, carbon,
stainless steels and exotic materials for
the approved market.
Due to their quality and high approval
level, Erne Fittings products can be
used within a broad range of complex
applications including those in the
power, oil and gas, nuclear and chemical
industries. The company states that this
makes it one of the most copied brands
in the business, and that a vast increase
in trademark violations from India and
the Middle East region has recently
been observed.
Counterfeits range from copy-pasted
websites to faked MTCs, resulting in
product falsification. The consequences
of these offensive actions are often
financial in nature or damaged
relationships, but can also result in
danger to human life.
Erne is focused on the protection of its
customers’ interests, and emphasises
its interest in the safety of sensitive
applications and facilities with
complex requirements. The company
is therefore calling on customers and
partners to aid in the discovery of all
trademark violations. As Erne takes
every trademark infringement very
seriously, it will ensure that each case
will be thoroughly investigated. To
support the interests of customers and
partners, a global network of lawyers –
all specialists in trademark law – assists
in the detailed and comprehensive
tracking of each attempt to violate
Erne’s copyrights.
The company states that anyone who
has doubts concerning the authenticity
of Erne Fittings documents and/
or products, or has any information
regarding the violation of the trademark,
should contact Erne Fittings directly
or ask their local distributor for further
assistance.

Vinyl foam tape
Pres-On, a manufacturer of industrial
tapes and gaskets, has introduced a
vinyl foam tape for sealing, cushioning
and gasketing.
The company states that VF20200
tapes provide the same performance
as more expensive tapes, making them
an economical alternative in HVAC,
packaging, weather-proofing and OEM
applications.
VF20200 tapes are coated on both
sides with permanent acrylic adhesive
featuring a functional temperature
range of -20°F to 200°F. The closed cell
structure resists absorption of water
while providing load-bearing qualities.
Because the foam is conformable,
VF20200 tapes are suitable for joining
irregular surfaces where glues, fasteners
and standard tapes may fail. It is also
resistant to degradation by inorganic
and organic acids, reducing agents,
detergent solutions, alcohols, aliphatic
hydrocarbons, mineral oil, amines
and aldehydes, so can be used with
confidence in adverse environments.
The tapes can be die-cut or kiss-cut to
custom specifications, such as donuts,
washers or other shapes to meet any
OEM requirement. Standard rolls are
available in widths ranging from

Major water main projects completed
Artesian Water Company, a subsidiary
of Artesian Resources Corporation, has
completed nine projects in New Castle
County and Sussex County, Delaware,
USA, investing nearly $5mn in eight water
main replacements and a new installation.
“In order to ensure our customers
receive the highly reliable service
they expect, Artesian undertook the
nine projects over the course of four
months,” said John Thaeder, senior
vice president. “With the design work
completed, the approvals obtained
from various state agencies, and with
the contractors assigned, the projects
proceeded on course.”
The projects resulted in the installation of
35,000ft, or nearly seven miles, of water
main, and included the replacement of
ductile iron and cast iron pipe up to 62
years old.
“We strive to replace ageing main within
a timeframe that allows us to avoid the
disruptions to service that arise from
main breaks that occur once the main
has reached the end of its useful life,”
said Dian C Taylor, chair, president
and CEO of Artesian Resources
Corporation. “The completion of these
current projects, where the average
age of main was over 55 years old, is
an example of our commitment to our
customers.”
