MEETING OF THE COUNCIL.

16th July, 1942.

Twenty-two members present.

Reports from -sub-committees were con

sidered and rulings made thereon.

The late Mr. William F. Aylward.

The Council passed a vote of sympathy

with the widow and relatives of the late

Mr. Vv'illiam F. Aylward, who died on 1st

July, 1942. Mr. Aylward entered the service

of the Society in 1891, and recently retired

on pension after almost fifty years faithful

service.

Pontifical High Mass

The President, representing the Society, was

present at the Pontifical High Mass

in

the Pro-Cathedral Dublin, on 24th June to

celebrate

the Episcopal Jubilee of His

Holiness

Pius

XII.

OBITUARY.

MR. RICHARD W. MACNEICE, Solicitor,

died on 3rd June, 1942, at his residence,

Sidmonton, Novara Road, Bray.

Mr. MacNeice served his apprenticeship

to the late Mr. Patrick H. Chance, Dublin,

was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1900, and

practised as senior partner of the firm of

R. W. MacNeice & Son at 12 Westmoreland

Street, Dublin, up to the year 1939, when

he retired.

MR. ADAM LLOYD-BLOOD, Solicitor, died

on 12th June, 1942, at his residence,

Winton Road, Dublin.

Mr. Lloyd-Blood served his apprenticeship

to the late Sir V-.'illiam Findlater, Dublin,

was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1883, and

practised as senior partner in the firm of

William Findlater & Co., 53 Dame Street,

Dublin.

Mr. Lloyd-Blood was a member of the

Council of the Society from 1906 to 1913

and was a Vice-President of

the Society

during the year 1909-10.

MR. GEORGE P. MACLAUGHLIN, Solicitor,

died on 15th June, 1942, at Tullyglass,

Ballymena.

Mr. MacLaughlin served his apprenticeship

to the late Mr. Daniel MacLaughlin, Coler-,

aine, was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1919,

and practised at Coleraine up to the year

1937, when he retired.

MR. ERNEST S. LOWE, Solicitor, died on

19th June, 1942, at his residence, The Gunyah,

Zion Road, Rathgar, Dublin.

Mr. Lowe served his apprenticeship to the

late Mr. Edward S. Lowe, Dublin, and prac

tised at 65 Lower Gardiner Street, Dublin.

MR. ARTHUR G. NIXON, Solicitor, died on

29th June,

1942, at Seamount Nursing

Home, Salthill, Galway.

Mr. Nixon served his apprenticeship with

Mr. Gerald Maguire, Claremorris, Co. Mayo,

was admitted in Easter Sittings, 1938, and

practised at Ballinrobe.
