Rent Collectors acting for Local Authorities.
The Privileges Committee reported that
Senior Counsel had advised that by virtue of
Section 257 of the Public Health Act, 1878,
rent collectors duly authorised by
local
sanitary authorities are entitled to appear
in Court and carry on proceedings for and in
the name of such authorities without a
solicitor, and that, by virtue of the County
Management Act, 1940, the necessary author
ity .to institute and carry on such pro
ceedings can be properly conferred by
written order of the County Manager under
Section 19 of that Act.

Vacancy on Council.
Mr. John J. Smyth, Drogheda, first in the
supplemental list was co-opted to fill the
vacancy caused by the death of Mr. Edward
H. Burne.
District Court Rules Committee.
Mr. Patrick F. O'Reilly was nominated
to fill the vacancy caused by the death of
Mr. Edward H. Burne.
Solicitors' Bill.
A special meeting of the Council was held
to consider the report of the sub-committee
appointed to consider the suggestions made
at the Special General Meeting of the Society
on October 1st, and draft amendments giving
effect
to a number of their suggestions.
