Solicitors' Bill.

THE COUNCIL considered a report from a Com

mittee of the Council on a memorandum received

from the Department of Justice.

Lectures and Articles by Solicitors.

THE COUNCIL passed the following resolution :—

"Any activity on the part of a solicitor of a self-

advertising nature designed to attract business is

clearly not permissible; lectures delivered or

articles published by a solicitor contrary to this

principle therefore necessarily involve a breach

of professional etiquette."

Betting Act (District Court and Garda

Siochana) Regulations, 1931.

ON A REPORT from a Committee, the Council

directed that the attention of solicitors should be

drawn to an error in form 5 in the Schedule to

the above regulations, which states that the time

for lodging an appeal to the District Court against

the refusal by a Superintendent of the Garda

Siochana of a certificate of fitness is 21 days,

whereas the time, in fact, is onlv 14 days under

.the Betting Act, 1931 s. 13 (2).
