The 3-star Hampton Inn is ideally located close to the airport and offers convenient access to downtown Boston’s many

attractions, shops and restaurants via a complimentary shuttle bus. The hotel offers great quality accommodation and has

excellent range of facilities including bar, restaurant, fitness centre and indoor swimming pool. The recently refurbished

This 3-star Manhattan hotel is situated close to many of the Big Apple’s world-famous attractions on the doorstep and

hotel does not have a restaurant but there are lots of restaurant options nearby.

Mountain Maryland. We enjoy free time in the historic

town of Frostburg with unique shops and a winery that

also serves local craft beers before we return by rail to

Cumberland. (B)

DAY 9

We have time to watch the freights on the line by our

hotel this morning before travelling by road to Romney

for our

Potomac Eagle vintage diesel excursion

along

the Potomac River. We enjoy a 3-hour round trip and

have the chance to spot

American bald eagles

while

we enjoy lunch onboard. We then continue by coach

to Elkins in West Virginia for our three nights stay at

Wingate by Wyndham. (B,L)

DAY 10

This morning we take a short walk to the station for

our

full day Cheat Mountain Salamander excursion

through remote West Virginian countryside with

a

buffet lunch included

. The 120-mile diesel hauled

round trip includes many interesting features such

as a

long tunnel with a ‘S’ curve

underneath Cheat

Mountain, stunning mountain vistas and wildlife

including potential bald eagles and black bear sightings.

DAY 11

Today we travel by road to Cass for an

incredible 4½

hour round trip on the Cass Scenic Railroad

to the

summit of

Bald Knob (4,842ft) using double headed

Shay locomotives

over a very steeply graded line

including a switchback. During our excursion a

‘King of

the Road’ hobo lunch is included

. Cass has the world’s

largest collection of geared logging locomotives and

we will have time to look around the logging town of

Cass that has remained virtually unchanged for over

100 years. (B,L)

DAY 12

We travel by road this morning to Durbin Depot

for our departure on the

“Durbin Rocket”

, a geared

Heisler steam locomotive

. We enjoy a

leisurely

2-hour round trip

along the banks of the Greenbrier

River with beautiful mountain views. In the afternoon

we continue by road to

Washington

for our overnight

stay at the Grand Hyatt. (B)

DAY 13

Today we have a day leisure to explore wonderful

Washington

. Our hotel is situated just half a mile from

The National Mall including the famous

Smithsonian

Museum, The White House

and

Capitol Building

.

We can choose to walk or travel by hop on/hop off

bus tour to see the many attractions. (

Please note

attractions are not included)

. Later in the day we transfer

from the hotel by metro and bus shuttle to the airport

for our evening flight to Heathrow. (B)

DAY 14

Following our incredible American Railroad adventure,

we arrive back into London Heathrow mid-morning

and begin our journey home.
