IoanaPârvulescu
Ioana Pârvulescu (born 1960 in Braşov, Romania) has served
as an editor at the literary periodical
Romania literară
, and
at Humanitas publishing house for over a decade. She is
currently Professor of modern Romanian literature at the
Bucharest Faculty of Letters. Pârvulescu has translated
extensively from French and German (Maurice Nadeau,
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Angelus Silesius, Rilke etc.) and
has authored ten books.
Life Begins on Friday
takes place during the last 13 days of
1897 and culminates in a beautiful tableau of the future as
imagined by the characters. This novel has won the EU Prize
for Literature, and has just come out in English by Istros
Books.
