Applications for admission without
examination received prior t o that
date will be considered. The Court
said the change is "based upon it s
internal study and a review o f sub-
missions which were solicited b y
public notice o n April 21 , 1986 .
Upon compliance with applicable
Rules, foreign-educated applicants
may continue t o seek admission in
New York upon examination".

FOURTH CONFERENCE
28JUNE-1 JULY 1987
Around 500 lawyers and their guests are expected t o attend the 4th Biennial Conference o f the IBA's
Section on General Practice (SGP) which is being held i n Montreaux, Switzerland from 28 June - 1 July
1 987. The IBA is the world's foremost international association o f lawyers with over 10,000 members
in 11 5 countries and th e SGP i s one o f it s three Sections.
The format o f the Conference will follow that so successfully employed at the Section's last meeting
in Madrid: a Main Theme session will be held on the first day with the following two days being devoted
to meetings o f the 21 Divisions o f the Section. The Main Theme, SERVING THE CONSUMER, i s one
which i s both relevant and challenging t o lawyers i n any field.
Meetings o f the Section's specialized Divisions will consider such topics as Medicine on Trial; Family
Law, mediation/conciliation; International Tax Planning; Choosing and Motivating Inside and Outside
Counsel; Litigation and Arbitration; Terrorism and Business Migration i n Europe; The Cutting Edge o f
International Criminal Law; A n analysis o f th e La w relating t o Cultural Property and it s infringement
of individual rights and liberties; Regulation o f the offering o f foreign vacation homes; The work o f the
International Commission o f Jurists (ICJ) and it s affiliate, th e Centre fo r the Independence o f Judges
and Lawyers (Geneva) a s well a s many others.
This Conference, in the beautiful lakeside setting o f the Montreaux Conference Centre on the banks
of Lake Geneva, promises t o be the Section's most successful yet. A s well as the varied working ses-
sions a programme o f tours t o local places o f interest such a s Gruyeres and Berne has been arranged
for delegates and their guests t o enable them t o sample the beautiful scenery o f Switzerland. The Gala
Dinner will b e held a t the spectacular Medieval Castle, Chateau Chillon on the banks o f Lake Geneva.
