Arthur Troop
on Cloud Nine
A small company which has prepared slate
plaques for clients such as the Shotton Paper
Company, which was officially opened by HRH
Prince Charles, as well as the National Lottery
who funded signs for the Malvern Hills Area of
Outstanding Natural Beauty, has once again
produced a high quality plaque for the IPA.
Cloud9Craft produced the plaque used to
celebrate the re-dedication of the IPA Stained
Glass Window in Guildford Cathedral - an event
which took place in 2010 as part of the IPA's
Diamond Jubilee celebrations. In 2014, they
produced the plaque celebrating the Centenary
of the Birth of Arthur Troop, BEM, Founder of
the IPA. Both plaques are 100% Welsh slate
and the template for the IPA logo was computer
generated. Having placed the design on the slate
like a stencil, the engraving is blasted out of the
stone, cleaned down and then painted with three
coats.
Gary Eccleston of Cloud9Craft said,
“One of our
favourite jobs was for a family who wanted a
house sign which had stick figures representing
each family member and their pets. This was to
help make the whole family feel included after
their frail grandparents had come to live with
them. We loved the design including the horse,
dog and the grandfather's habitually lost shoe.
The same customer returned for an updated
sign as there have been new children added to
the family, the dog has passed away, and a new
dog joined the family. The grandfather still loses
his shoe.”
Cloud9Craft’s products include: House signs,
business and corporate plaques, pet memorials,
garden signs, wine racks, place mats and
coasters, cheese/bread boards, trays, plates
and bowls, draughts/chess boards, wedding
gifts. The company also produce larger items
such as: gardening and landscaping materials,
headstones and memorials, benches and
tables, walling, window sills and mantels and
steps, fireplaces and hearths, flooring, kitchen
worktops and counters.
