Nexans was among those who welcomed
the European Space Agency (ESA) news
that the Rosetta comet chaser satellite
had been successfully “woken” in deep
space after over two-and-a-half years in
hibernation.
Launched ten years ago, Rosetta is now
800,000,000km away and poised for the
next phase of the mission – a scheduled
attempt to land a probe on a comet
surface in November. The researchers
hope to gather information which will
help explain the formation of the solar
system.
Nexans provided the electrical
harnesses for the probe. The harnesses
were built in Brussels and took over
three years to manufacture, requiring
over 12,000 electrical connections.
