COMMISSIONERS TO ADMINISTER
OATHS.
The following have been appointed Com–
missioners to administer Oaths :

IRISH LAND COMMISSION.
The Land Bill, 1930, having passed the
Bail, is now before the Senate.
In its passage
through the Dail a large number of amend–
ments were inserted in the Bill, including
amendments in those clauses which provided
for an appeal to the Judicial Commissioner
from decisions of the other Land Commis–
sioners.
The amendments inserted give a
further right of appeal, on questions of law
only, from the decision of the Judicial Com–
missioner to the Supreme Court.
In proceedings on the Bill in the Senate
the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister
for Lands and Fisheries announced that on
the Bill becoming law it is intended to appoint
additional Examiners of Title. The office of
Examiner of Title is open to members of the
Solicitors' profession.
ASSISTANT SOLICITOR IN TREASURY
SOLICITOR'S OFFICE.
The Secretary has received the following
intimation as to application for the above :
The Civil Service Commissioners invite
applications for the whole-time pensionable
position of Assistant Solicitor in the Treasury
Solicitor's Office. Applications are restricted
to candidates who are qualified as Solicitors
in Saorstat Eireann. Maximum age limit,
35 years on
1st May, 1931.
Scales of
salary :
£175 by £10 per annum to £300 for
women and unmarried men ;
£175 by £15
per annum to £400 for married men, together
with cost of living bonus in each case.
(At
present the bonus on £175 is £90 19s.)
Application Forms and particulars maybe
obtained from the Secretary, Civil Service
Commission,

pleted Application Forms, 4th May, 1931.
UNQUALIFIED CONVEYANCER.
At the Dublin District Court on 23rd
March, 1931, a summons was heard, at the
suit of the Secretary of the Incorporated Law
Society of Ireland on behalf of the Society,
against Aylmer C. Kelly, Auctioneer and
House Agent, for recovery of a penalty by
reason of the defendant, without being duly
qualified, did practise as a Conveyancer for
or in expectation of a fee, gain or reward,
contrary to the provisions of 27 Victoria,
Cap. 8. The defendant acted in the letting
of a house, and prepared the letting agree–
ment between the landlord and tenant; and
in addition to charging the tenant the stamp
duty on the agreement, he charged the
tenant one guinea for its preparation.
The Justice gave a decree for penalty of
five
pounds
and
fifteen guineas
costs,
allowing the Defendant three months to pay.
SOLICITORS' GOLFING SOCIETY.
The Annual Competition for the Society's
Cup will be held on Tuesday, 2nd June, at
Woodbrook, Co. Dublin.

INTERMEDIATE EXAMINATION.
The June, 1931, Intermediate Examina–
tion will be held on Friday, 5th June.
Notice of intention to attend the examina–
tion should be lodged in the Secretary's
Office, 45 Kildare Street, Dublin, before
15th May.
