this industry will be left in jeopardy and the UK’s energy security and balance of trade would also stand to suffer
serious damage.
The UK offshore oil and gas industry is a national asset. Our indigenous resources hold the promise of a successful
industry for years to come. However, we face exceptional challenge and, without concerted effort, an uncertain
future. Industry and government must now do what is needed to reduce costs, encourage investment and avoid
premature decline.
