KATHERINA FARR
Department of Oncology, Aarhus University Hospital
Aarhus, Denmark
Dr Katherina P. Farr received her MD from Aarhus University,
Denmark, in 2006. After completing surgery, general and
internal medicine rotation in 2006-2007, she is currently enrolled
in a specialist training (residency) programme in clinical
oncology, comprising medical and radiation oncology, at Aarhus
University Hospital.
Besides the clinical practice, she has conducted a PhD research
project concerning perfusion single-photon emission computed
tomography (SPECT) imaging and radiotherapy-induced
injury in the lung after curative radiotherapy for non-small cell
lung cancer. The project was conducted at the Department of
Oncology in close collaboration with the Department of Nuclear
Medicine and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Centre
at Aarhus University Hospital. The PhD project was guided by
Prof C. Grau, Dr A. Khalil and Ass. Prof A. Morsing. Katherina
defended her PhD thesis in November 2015.
The primary focus of her research is on non-small cell lung
cancer patients undergoing curative radiotherapy with specific
interest in radiation side effects in the lungs, and measures to
reduce them. Her clinical research focuses on implementation
of functional imaging in radiotherapy planning. Katherina is
currently working on how to optimise radiotherapy planning
according to functional distribution.
