I have your letter (ref. EAP 4/2/70) of the

llth instant.

I fear I may have misled you on the question

of the relevance of Section 25 of the Registration

of Title Act, 1964. This was probably due to the

heading of the article in the "Gazette". You will

remember in my letter of 20th August, 1970 I

said that Section 25 deals with compulsory regis

tration of

unregistered

land.

In short, as I see it, whether an individual or

Statutory Authority acquires after the passing of

the Registration of Title Act 1964 by conveyance

on sale of freehold land or grant or assignment

on sale of a leasehold interest inside the com

pulsory area referred to in Section 24, then the

sanctions of Section 25 apply. Where the Statutory

Authority has acquired

the property

in

such

manner outside the compulsory area referred to,

then Section 25 applies likewise.

As regards registration of possessory title, if

you refer again to my letter of 27th August and

the penultimate paragraph therof you will see T
