Evergreen, authorized by the New York State Education Department, operates as a free public elementary school

serving 300 children from kindergarten through fifth grade. We are proud of this school, its vision and mission.

The Evergreen School Pledge

I pledge to protect the earth, respect the web of life upon it and

to honor the dignity of every member of our global family, one

planet, one people, one world, in harmony with peace, freedom

and justice for all.

The Evergreen School Promise

I promise to respect myself, respect others and respect

the earth’s resources.

A Momentous Occasion

2010

írculo obtained its certificate of occupancy to open the Center on January 5, 2010. This was a momentous

occasion. The first floor was opened with classrooms, a multipurpose room, and a kitchen. The second floor

had one small finished room and the lower level housed boilers, the electrical room, a technology room and a

refrigerator, and freezer. Even though the secondfloor and lower level of the facility consisted of unfinished space, it was an

exciting moment and Círculo celebrated.

Evergreen Charter School moved into the Círculo Center after the Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend in

January, using classrooms on the first floor for its kindergarten and first grades. In addition Círculo began

operating its after-school program that had been licensed by the New York State Office of Children and

Family Services.

The facility also provided space for recreational programs for children including indoor soccer in the

evenings. Training programs were developed for the hospitality and culinary food services program as well.

Círculo received funding from the Silvian Foundation in 2010 to support a Technology Center for at-risk youth. This

was developed at Círculo Center and in Long Beach. The Silvian Foundation continued to support Círculo for five

years with funding for needed youth services.

The Inauguration for Círculo’s Green Center was August, 7, 2010. The event was a joyous occasion, where we

celebrated and recognized the efforts of so many people that had supported Círculo along the way. Nancy Iglesias,

Círculo’s consultant, provided instrumental support in preparing the festivities and organizing this event. We planned

musical and dancer performances with groups representing different cultures. We sane songs reflecting the mission of

our organization and the spirit of reaching our impossible dream, the construction of the Center. Gil’s family from

Spain and about 300 people attend the Círculo’s Green Center Inauguration. It was a memorable, historic celebration

forever to be remembered.

We were also excited to receive news from the U.S. Green Building Council that Círculo had achieved “Gold”
