Orchestrated response to RT

Key processes in radiation

fibrogenesis

TGFβ

is a multifunctional cytokine and

growth factor, strongly profibrotic, involved

in many diseases including cancer.

TGFβ has a dual role in tumour

suppression and promotion.

Another key element is the homeostatic

control of reactive oxygen and nitrogen

species (

ROS and RNS

). It is the

pertubation of the homeostatic control of

ROS and RNS rather than the radical

species themselves that drives the active

biological response to oxidative and

nitrosactive stress.
