APBI 2016 – SUMMARY
(1) Results of APBI with brachytherapy using single-entry
devices
(
Mammosite, SAVI-Catheter, Contura-Catheter, Electronic
Brachytherapy
) are at the moment
controversial, inconclusive, or
some at the moment immature.
No Phase 3 trial available.
(2) Results of APBI using multicatheter brachytherapy for 4-5
days are current excellent.

Selection guidelines for appropriateness of APBI using
brachytherapy will need to be constantly refined
to reflect
the ever-accumulating published results of clinical outcomes.
Particular help will come from the recently closed
GEC-ESTRO
and
NSABP B-39/RTOG 0413
trials.
