End welding for cored wire lines
Guild International has recently developed a new welding machine for joining coil ends on production lines producing cored
wire. Known as the HMA Welder, this machine produces complete edge-to-edge welds on a variety of materials on all types
of lines producing cored wire from flat strip.
The HMA Welder is designed to accommodate a strip with widths from 0.250" up
to 3", and thicknesses from 0.008" up to 0.060".
The HMA Welder is fast and easy to use. A shear cuts the coil ends on a bias,
creating a precise edge for welding. The weld station is designed to use start and
stop tabs allowing the weld to cover the entire strip width. This allows the weld to
pass through the line and remain in the wire.
The machine also features swing weld clamps for easy viewing, an XY micrometer
slide for torch adjustment, and optional roll planisher.
The entire weld process takes about 1-2 minutes, depending upon the size of
the material. The welder is portable and compact, allowing it to be easily rolled
between lines.
