The final "9" Wine and Dine Tournament of the season, which was held on Friday, April 29,

was a fitting finale to what has become one of the most popular and enjoyable golf events.

Despite many members being away from Frenchman's, there were still a lot of participants

playing both courses. Lovely weather was a bonus and, as usual, golf was followed by a

sumptuous buffet dinner. Thanks to Carol Smith and Joanne Weinbach and their committee

who did a super job this year. Everyone is anxiously looking forward to next season's

tournaments.

It seems like the Frenchman's Creek Ladies Golf Association season just started. Where has

the time gone? April was filled with events marking the approach of summer.

LADIES CLOSING DAY

The closing luncheon was held on Tuesday, April 19th. The golf tournament format was a

step-aside nine-hole scramble, with nearly 140 women participating and a dozen more

joining the group for the luncheon following golf. The theme of the exceptionally

beautifully decorated luncheon was, fittingly,

"Everything Is Coming Up Roses",

with

everyone encouraged to take home a rose from the gorgeous centerpieces. In lieu of favors

the Frenchman’s Creek Ladies Golf Association was honored to make a donation to the

Robert Bruno Foundation– a gesture the women unanimously endorsed. Marleen Hacker,

league president, thanked all the board members and golf staff and introduced the year's

new members. Prizes were presented to the most improved golfer, the player with the

most birdies and all the major tournament winners. Many thanks to tournament chair

Jennifer Weintraub and luncheon coordinators Phyllis Hershman and Ruth Karlin and their

committees for a lovely day that truly "came up roses".
