H

ave you ever wanted to feel special?

Have you ever wanted to feel special

so badly that you’d convince yourself

that you have hidden powers which make you

superior to those around you? Well, Yuuta

Togashi from

Love, Chunibyo & Other

Delusions

did just that but now that he’s

matured a little, he wants to put it all behind

him. A feat which proves more difficult than he

anticipated when neighbour Rikka Takanashi is

even more delusional than he is.

This is a little bit difficult to describe on

paper and borders on unfathomable on the

screen, but here goes... What you get in

Nobunagun Series Collection

is a story of

Taiwanese “E-Gene” monsters, the spirits

of long-passed Japanese warlords and

biomechanical mecha all wrapped into one.

Somehow, amongst all of this madness, High

School student Shio Ogura manages to play

the hero, taking it all in her stride.

Anime series with an otaku main character

are a weakness of mine, purely because it’s

great to see a lead character who is as much

of a geek as me.

Outbreak Company Series

Collection

has just that, with Shinichi

Kanou all but bred into Otaku-dom

with a novelist father

and a mother who

designs hentai video games. He then goes

on to be a “moe” cultural ambassador to the

fantasy world of Holy Erudanto Kingdom. Will

gorgeous elves, witches and beasties be too

much for Shinichi’s diplomacy to bear?

It’s been a long time between drinks (with

Season 2 released back in 2012), so it’s great to

see Season 3 of

The World God Only Knows

hit shelves this month. With another otaku lead

character in the frame,

The World God Only

Knows

continues the magic, romance and

hilarity of previous seasons.

Magi: The Kingdom of Magic Season 2

Collection

is a little more dark and sinister

than the previous season. Now that Aladdin

and Alibaba are aware of their own powers,

they part ways in order to grow even

stronger still. What they find are lands

full of bloodthirsty gladiators and

throne-stealing usurpers.

The gang is back together and bigger than

ever in

Nisekoi False Love Part 2

. Considering

that this second volume starts off after the

infamous “bath incident”, you can rest assured

that things will be suitably awkward from here

on out.

Resident of the madhouse dorm also known

as Sakurasou, Sorata Kanda finds himself

being incessantly tormented and dragged all

around town in

Pet Girl of Sakurasou

. But it's

not a complete bust, at least he's surrounded

by pretty girls and cats. Lots and lots of cats.

ANIME

ROUND-UP

Delusional

Anime

Characters

With the release of

Love, Chunbiyo and

Other Delusions

, I thought it'd be fun

to look at the top 5 characters who are

just that: delusional.

5

Light Yagami (Death Note)

On the

delusional villain end of the spectrum,

Death Note wielding Light honestly believes

that his murderous mission is just and moral.

4

Vegeta (Dragonball Z)

This proud

Saiyan's delusion stems from his pseudo-

royal background and sees him look down on

everyone, with an air of superiority.

3

Ichiya Vandalay Kotobuki (Fairy Tail)

Like his guild mates, Blue Pegasus guild

member Kotobuki believes himself to be quite

the ladies man. Unfortunately he simply doesn't

have the looks, nor personality of his cohorts.

Doesn't stop him from trying!

2

Rintaro Okabe (Steins;Gate)

Self-

proclaimed mad scientist Okarin thinks of

himself as quite the genius and an inventor of

time travel. This is complete delusion, for the

most part.

1

Keima Katsuragi (The World God Only

Knows)

Keima thinks of himself as quite

the charmer, but sadly, this is only true in the

digital world. In real life he's arrogant, abrasive

and painfully awkward. Still can't figure out

why I like this guy so much.
