ean Burke has been
at USD for 18 years as
the director of student af–
fairs. His main responsibil–
ities were to coordinate, di–
rect, and supervise nonaca–
demic activities. These in–
clude athletics, recreation
housing, student govern–
ment, campus ministry,
university center operation,
and much more. Two main
changes that Dean
Burke
made in student affairs
were the growth of the resi–
dence halls and the con–
struction of the University
Center. As shown,
Burke
has given this school many
opportunities which have
been rewarding to every–
one.
Tom Cosgrove has been
with USO for 19 years. He
first started out as a pro–
gram coordinator at USD
and because he had stud–
ied theology he also
worked with Campus Minis–
try. Cosgrove was later pro–
moted and became the As–
sociate Dean of Students
and Director of the Univer–
sity Center. He helped build
the Student Life program
from scratch and also ad–
vised Associated Students
and Residence Life pro–
grams.

arol Lyman, the Director of
Student Activities, acted as
an adviser to the A.S. Program
Board which met weekly to dis–
cuss, plan and organize a varied
program of extracurricular activi–
ties for the University. Carol also
advised the Student Issues Board
which discussed Important stu–
dent issues and served as a liaison
between the students and admin–
istration on these representative
issues. In addition, Carol advised
A.S.
Marketing, the cheerleaders
and was involved with the Wom–
en's Program and planning of
spring commencement.
