On behalf of the Government and the people of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, I extend a heartfelt welcome
to all the distinguished delegates that have travelled to the Bahamas to participate in the 3rd Caribbean
Conference on the International Financial Services Sector.
The Bahamas remains committed to ensuring that its financial services sector continues to engage with the world
as a preeminent and reputable leader in the industry. Therefore, The Bahamas is immesnsely proud to have been
given the privilege to host this Conference, under the theme “The Caribbean: Engaging The World in Financial
Services”. The Conference, organized in conjunction with the Caribbean Export Development Agency, provides
an important forum for sister Caribbean countries to share their experiences, ideas and viewpoints on the further
development of the international business and financial services centres of the region.
At this Conference you will have an opportunity to discuss many issues related to the major international intiatives
impacting the region’s financial services sectors and also strategies of ensuring that the financial services industry
continues to thrive in our jurisdictions and remains as major contributor to the sustainability and development of
our economies.
I therefore, congratulate the Minister of Financial Services and the Caribbean Export Development Agency for
thier leadership in the development and promotion of the region’s financial services sector.
