SYMPTOMS

The symptoms of this vehicle went

from intermittent to near permanent

where no gears could be selected. No

matter the position of the selector the

letter ‘N’ remained on the instrument

cluster resulting in the car being

un-drivable. The owner of the car had

been informed by main dealer that the

car required a new gearbox after they

had inspected the long list of fault code

which were stored in the

transmission module.

Autologic Assist was used to give a

second opinion. A full vehicle scan was

performed which highlighted some

20+ permanent fault codes stored

within the TCM, all returned when the

vehicle was restarted. The technician

had some experience with AT but in

the back of the mind a dealer stating

gearbox replacement required perhaps

hindered his thought process so it was

decided to forward the scan to the

assist team.

Minutes later we received a call from

Carlos on Autologic’s PSA Team, he

explained how the fault codes were

generated causing a ‘Domino Effect’

cascading many other codes. This is in

most cases caused by the accumulator

on the rear of the gearbox. Replacing

this was sure to cure the fault. The

accumulator was replaced, fault codes

cleared and did not return. The car

now drives perfectly.
