with the ISO 118980-2/5/6, 11898-2:2016 and the SAE

J2962-2 standards. The ATA6562, ATA6563, ATA6564,

ATA6565 and ATA6566 build the industry’s first

automotive Grade 0 qualified CAN/CAN FD transceiver

family with an ambient temperature rating of -40° to

150°C.

The family also provides a CAN PN transceiver including

a window watchdog. All devices in the family are approved

by major car manufacturers for use without the external

Common Mode Choke (CMC) that is required for most

CAN transceivers.

“Microchip has one of the strongest and most complete

CAN portfolios in the industry,” said Matthias Kaestner,

vice president of Microchip’s automotive division. “Our

transceivers ensure reliable communication in the harsh

automotive environment with less external components

and minimal board space, which leads to lower system

cost.”

All family members include wake-up capability via CAN

bus with dual wake-up pattern according to ISO11898-

2:2016. A modern vehicle contains more than 70

Electronic Control Units (ECUs) with CAN interface. This

feature avoids unwanted power-up sequences, leading

to significant energy savings and reduced emissions.

Analog Devices’ Versatile 50 Mbps RS-485

Transceiver Series Protects Communication in

Harsh Environments

Analog Devices, Inc. today announced the availability

of two 50 Mbps RS-485/RS-422 transceivers for use

in harsh environments including industrial automation,

motor control, military and avionics. The ADM3065E

and ADM3066E transceivers combine IEC61000-4-2

Level 4 electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection, high

speed data communication, support of 1.8 VIO logic

(ADM3066E), and an industrial temperature range all in

small space saving packages. These features provide

design flexibility while simplifying implementation

and improving performance of standard RS-485

communication links. System level IEC ESD threats

have discharge levels with much higher peak currents

and voltages compared to HBM (Human Body Model)

ESD. The ADM306xE’s IEC ESD level protection

provides a robust solution for customers operating

in industrial environments. With the receiver failsafe,

applications are immune to common real world faults

such as incorrect wiring which cause opens or shorts.

A receiver fail-safe guarantees a known state on the

data bus. Glitch free hot swap capability enables error-

free data operation when a circuit board is inserted into

a powered back-plane to ensure motors are properly

controlled, meters correctly read and machinery runs

smoothly with valid data. The RS-485 transceivers also

comply with several widely used protocols such as

Profibus, BACnet and Modbus to support a variety of

network topologies.

The ADM306xE transceiver series operates with a 3 V to
