Leslie A. Salley
is a college writing instructor, online course
designer, faculty developer, creative nonfictionist, certified school
librarian, former secondary English teacher, and current Clemson
University PhD student in Literacy, Language, and Culture . Her
research and professional interests include adolescent literacy,
composition pedagogy, digital learning, feminist theory, readers’
advisory, television studies, writing centers, and young adult

is the literacy specialist for a charter school network
in Memphis, TN. She is also in her third and final year of doctoral
studies at Clemson University in the Literacy, Language, and Culture
PhD program. Rachael is a former classroom teacher with experience
in kindergarten and second grade. Rachael’s research interests include
social justice and diversity, read- aloud experiences, and teacher

Koti L. Hubbard
is a doctoral student in literacy, language
and culture, specializing in early literacy development. Her
interests include struggling readers, literature response and
discussion, and teacher education. Prior to pursuing doctoral
study, she worked in rural early childhood settings in South
