SUFFOLK UNIVERSITY’S POLICY AGAINST SEXUAL MISCONDUCT

Title IX at Suffolk University

I. Introduction

Suffolk University (“University”), consisting of its Boston and Madrid campuses, seeks to foster

a campus environment that supports its educational mission and is committed to providing a safe

learning, living, and working environment for all members of the University community that is

free from all forms of Sexual Misconduct. The University does not discriminate on the basis of

sex or gender and this policy prohibits specific forms of behavior that violate Title IX of the

Educational Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”) and/or all other applicable state and federal laws.

The University also complies with all obligations under the Violence Against Women

Reauthorization Act of 2013 (“VAWA”) and the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security

Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (“Clery Act”).

This policy also reflects the University’s commitment to educate, counsel, and train all of the

members of the University community about the nature of Sexual Misconduct, its impact on

individuals and the University community as a whole, and the steps necessary to combat it.

The University prohibits Sexual Misconduct of any kind, including Sexual Assault, Sexual

Harassment, Gender-Based Harassment, Intimate Partner Violence, Sexual Exploitation,

Stalking, and Retaliation against a person for the good faith reporting of any of these forms of

conduct or participation in any investigation or proceeding under this policy (“Sexual

Misconduct”). Sexual Misconduct is antithetical to the mission of the University and the values

it espouses and will be responded to diligently and accordingly. Creating a safe campus

environment and a culture of respect is the shared responsibility of all members of the University

community, individually and collectively.

The University strongly encourages any person who believes they have been subjected to Sexual

Misconduct by a University student or employee to seek prompt assistance from the resources

which may be viewed at

http://www.suffolk.edu/sexualmisconduct .

These procedures outline how the University will proceed once it is made aware that a person

believes they have been subjected to Sexual Misconduct and provides guidelines for providing

prompt assistance to the Complainant and conducting the investigation and resolution of

complaints of violations of the Policy on Sexual Misconduct in a prompt and thorough manner.
